Melchionni Honored by NYIA
Verona, NY — The New York Insurance Association, Inc. (NYIA) honored William P. Melchionni III with the Chair’s Distinguished Service Award at the association’s annual conference on June 2 in Verona, N.Y. Melchionni is Deputy Head, U.S. Federal and State Government Affairs for American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
“Bill volunteers countless hours to NYIA as well as many other overarching insurance industry efforts,” Steven Coffey, NYIA chair and president and chief executive officer of Broome Co-operative Insurance Company said. “He is always looking for ways to improve the image of our industry and strives to make the insurance community a better place.”
Melchionni is responsible for managing the government relations activities in the 26-state Eastern United States region on behalf of AIG and its operating companies including AIG Property Casualty, AIG Life and Retirement and United Guaranty.
Melchionni serves as chair of NYIA’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee and has previously served on the NYIA Board of Directors. He has served on a variety of committees during his nearly 20 years of involvement with the association. He has also served as an Albany County Legislator. Melchionni is a graduate of Williams College with a degree in history.
