Expanded Role for Big ‘I’ Virtual University Director

Chris Boggs has been named the executive director of risk management and education for the IIABA.

Boggs’s new role combines his current position of Big “I” Virtual University executive director, in which he leads the university in delivering education and research to member agencies, subscribers and the industry, with directorship in Big I Advantage®. In his new role, Boggs will also be responsible for the professional liability risk management strategy within the national Professional Liability Program, maximizing the program’s value for agencies, states and association members.

“Chris is well-qualified to take the Big I Advantage® National Professional Liability Program to higher levels of success,” says Madelyn Flannagan, Big “I” vice president of agent development, education and research. “Not only is he an industry authority on risk management strategies, Chris’ background in education and research will continue to drive the highest quality of service to our members, state associations and insurance company partners.”

“The Big I Advantage team looks forward to Chris’ leadership and service in this new role,” adds Mark Wolf, Big I Advantage vice president. “His insights and experience are a perfect fit for this program which is such an important member benefit of the Big ‘I.’”

Boggs joined the insurance industry in 1990. During his career, he has authored more than 1,000 insurance and risk management-related articles on a wide range of topics as diverse as credit default swaps, the MCS-90 and enterprise risk management.  He is a regular speaker at industry events, speaking for groups such as the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), the National Society of Insurance Premium Auditors (NSIPA) and the American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA).

“I’m honored to accept this new position, and I’m looking forward to equipping Big ‘I’ members to take their agencies to the next level through both education and risk management resources,” says Boggs. “My career has been dedicated to advancing the insurance industry’s knowledge and ability to best help people in their time of need. This role will allow me to continue serving through new opportunities.”
