IABA Announces Recipients Of Lifetime Achievement Awards
The International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) have selected Roosevelt Mosley Jr., FCAS, MAAA, CSPA and John Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA as their 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award Winners.
As the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) ushers in its 30th year, it remains committed to increasing the number of successful Black Actuaries through strong leadership and engagement across the profession. This has been most recently highlighted during this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards in New Orleans in conjunction with the IABA Annual Meeting. Both recipients of this prestigious award are currently President Elect of their credentialing Society. Roosevelt Mosley Jr., FCAS, MAAA, CSPA is the President-Elect of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and John Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA is the President-Elect of the Society of Actuaries (SOA). Over the years, Mr. Mosley and Mr. Robinson have both made an incredible impact on the IABA. In addition, their newly appointed leadership positions at CAS and SOA are a testament to the progress being made by the IABA and other affinity organizations towards a more diverse, equitable and inclusive actuarial profession.

We would not have been able to create such an incredible impact over the years without the hard work of leaders like them,” said Dwayne Husbands, FSA, CFA, MAAA, President of the International Association of Black Actuaries. “Seeing these two pillars within our profession at the helm of CAS and SOA is a great step in equitable advancement within the actuarial profession.”
Roosevelt Mosley, Jr. FCAS, MAAA, CSPA is a principal and consulting actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources and has been in the property/casualty industry since 1994. His skill set includes predictive analytics applications for all insurance functions, ratemaking and product development, competitive analysis and litigation support. He has served as a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Society of Actuaries’ Joint Committee on Inclusion, Equity and Diversity, the board of trustees of the Actuarial Foundation and the CAS Public Relations Advisory Committee. He has also served as a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) Racial Equity Task Force.

with John Robinson” said Roosevelt Mosley Jr., FCAS, MAAA, CSPA Principal and Consulting Actuary at Pinnacle Actuarial Resources and President-Elect of the CAS.
John Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA has recently retired as an actuary with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. He also has represented Minnesota on various committees with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). His prior actuarial roles have been in OPEB valuations, life insurance and pensions. Robinson has previously served as a member of the SOA Board of Directors. He volunteers regularly as an SOA exam grader and with the SOA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Research Advisory Committee. In addition, Robinson has previously served as president of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA).
“The IABA and other affinity organizations like the Organization of Latino Actuaries, the National Association of Women Actuaries, and the Sexuality and Gender Alliance of Actuaries continue to build a bright future for underrepresented communities through equitable exposure, access, development and advancement. For Roosevelt and I to be involved with expanding that mission across the two most prominent actuarial organizations in the world is a career highpoint. This award is recognition of a lifetime of achievement, but also an opportunity to continue to make an impact,” said John Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA President-Elect of the SOA.
