New York Insurance Association Elects 2023 Officers and Board Directors

The New York Insurance Association (NYIA) has announced the election of its 2023 officers and board of directors.

The following officers were elected for a term ending Dec. 31, 2023:

Chair: Charles Makey, president, Merchants Insurance Group, Buffalo, N.Y.

First vice chair: Edward Harper, president and chief executive officer, Statewide Underwriting Services, Schenectady, N.Y.

Second vice chair: Siobhan Davey, president and chief executive officer, Broome Co-operative Insurance Company, Vestal, N.Y.

Treasurer: Norman Orlowski,  president and chief executive officer, Erie and Niagara Insurance Association, Williamsville, N.Y.

The following director was elected for a term ending Dec. 31, 2023:

David McHale, chief legal and human resources officer, The Doctors Company, Napa, Calif.

The following directors were elected for a term ending Dec. 31, 2024:

John Cerrone, senior director, state government relations, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus, Ohio

Mark Dombrowski, vice president, government associations.rtf relations, Erie Insurance Group, Erie, Pa.

The following directors were elected for a term ending Dec. 31, 2025:

Charles Makey, president, Merchants Insurance Group, Buffalo, N.Y.

Deirdre Manna, senior vice president and head of government and regulatory relations, Zurich North America, Schaumburg,l.

Kristen Martin president and chief operating officer, Utica National Insurance Group, Utica, N.Y.
