Governor Ron Santis of Florida offered an excellent example of what a state leader can do for insurance pricing and availability.

The governor intervene to make it more difficult for trial lawyers and others to pillory the industry. He did this on the heels of what has been a volatile situation in the Sunshine State with insurers quitting the market, failing or sticking it out with limited optimism. Only a few are truly interested in the Florida market. He will build business and legal background understands immediately the enabling nature of insurance and in the business climate and its key role at a time when Florida is in a robust growth posture.

The example is one that were well studied at the NAIC meeting meeting-a view of regulatory skill that is the opposite of punitive toward carriers.
