Spataro Honored by New York Insurance Association

The New York Insurance Association, Inc. (NYIA) honored Thomas Spataro with the 2024 Chair’s Distinguished Service Award. Spataro is senior vice president, mutual company specialty practice at Guy Carpenter. He was presented with the award at the association’s annual conference held at The Saratoga Hilton in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

 “NYIA is honored to award the 2024 Chair’s Distinguished Service Award to Thomas Spataro,” Edward Harper, NYIA chair and president and CEO of Statewide Underwriting Services, said. “Tom has the ability to think outside the box and encourage others to do the same. We thank him for his dedication to the association over the years and for his commitment to the betterment of the industry.”

 Spataro joined Guy Carpenter in April 1999. He serves as a treaty broker responsible for client relationship management and new business production. He began his career working in the direct insurance production, field training and eventually national sales training departments at Metropolitan P&C Insurance. He later held the position of personal lines sales manager at a large insurance agency in the Capital District of New York. In July 1992, he began his reinsurance career with Guilderland Reinsurance Company where he held various positions before being promoted to vice president. Spataro is a 1987 graduate of Siena College with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and management, he has also earned the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation.
