New York among the States with the Most DUI Arrests

New York saw nearly 22,000 DUI arrests within the timespan of one year.

Alaska has been crowned the state with the most drunk drivers, with a DUI arrest rate of 726.13 per 100,000 people.

Delaware ranks as the state with the lowest DUI arrest rate; 30.34 per 100,000 people.

Rise Legal Funding HAS analyzed the most up-to-date FBI arrest offense count data to reveal the states with the most DUI arrests. The total number of DUI arrests made in each state between January and December 2022 was analyzed and then measured against population to ensure a fair comparison and reveal the number of arrests per 100,000 people in each state.

New York is in seventh place, with a rate of 479.61 per 100,000 people. New York, especially New York City, is notorious for dangerous roads; this is largely due to heavy traffic and its ‘angry’ and ‘aggressive’ drivers, which can be overwhelming for drivers not used to the driving culture. This, in combination with the large volumes of DUIs, makes New York a dangerous place to drive.

Rounding out the top ten Mississippi in eighth place, with a rate of 397.65 per 100,000; Idaho in ninth place, with a rate of 391.74 per 100,000 and Arizona in tenth place, with a rate of 381.55 per 100,000.

Commenting on these findings, a spokesperson from High Rise Legal Funding has said: “These findings indicate an alarming problem with impaired driving across America, most notably in California, which had a total of 98,084 DUI arrests within just one year. The same can be said for New York, which saw a total of 21,583 arrests within one year”.

“These findings are imperative for identifying regions where impaired driving is a significant problem. It allows us to implement adequate preventative measures that ensure the safety of everyone on the road, ultimately reducing the number of DUI-related incidents”.
