Verisk Introduces Crime Analytics

Verisk (Nasdaq:VRSK), a leading source of information about risk, has announced the formation of Verisk Crime Analytics, reflecting the company’s recent growth in crime analytics and its potential penetration into this growing market. Following other recent product launches and acquisitions, Verisk currently owns and operates national crime databases that provide services to the construction, retail, transportation, manufacturing, and insurance industries. Those databases support law enforcement operations. Verisk Crime Analytics include national databases for mobile equipment, cargo theft, organized retail crime, and bank crime incidents. Vincent Cialdella, senior vice president of Verisk Insurance Solutions, stated “The Verisk Crime Analytics division will help us evolve our crime-related analytical tools into an integrated solution that bridges the gap between the public and private sectors. In doing so, we’ll unlock further value for the industries we serve.”

Verisk Crime Analytics is headed by David Shillingford, who has led the development and acquisition of the assets that make up the division. Shillingford observed: “The economic downturn has both increased the motivation for certain crimes and put public safety budgets under pressure. It’s therefore imperative that private industry become better at collaborating and sharing data with the public sector and creating analytical crime prevention methods through a new breed of public-private partnerships. That’s the basis of our solution set.” For more information, visit www.verisk. com .
