PIA launches E&O Risk Management Tool Kit for Agents and Brokers

GLENMONT, N.Y.—The Professional Insurance Agents associations in Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York launched a PIA member-only benefit this week—the Agents and Brokers E&O Risk Management Tool Kit. This tool kit can help PIA members prevent or mitigate errors-andomissions damage and offers them tools and information to protect their agencies.

“A champion of the professional, independent agent, PIA provides resources our members need to build foundationally solid, community-based businesses,” said Kelly Norris, CAE, executive director of PIACT, PIANH, PIANJ and PIANY. “E&O exposure is a direct threat to our members’ sustainability and their bottom line. To help them keep their businesses in the black, we’ve put current and long-acquired knowledge of our E&O experts all in one, easy-to-access online tool kit.”

Tool kit topics include: E&O mistakes insurance professionals have made and how to avoid them; tips to consider when reviewing contracts or leases for clients; what happens during an E&O claim; riskmanagement resources; coverage checklists; PIA’s E&O assistance hotline; legal assistance for E&O questions; an agent’s responsibility to a client when a carrier goes into rehabilitation or insolvency; and more. New information will be added on a continuous basis.

PIACT, PIANH, PIANJ and PIANY members can access this tool kit via the PIA website (pia.org) by clicking “E&O Risk Management Tool Kit” under “Tools and Resources.”

In conjunction with the tool kit and regular updates provided in its publications, PIA offers professional, independent insurance agents several products and resources they need to protect their agencies, including: E&O coverage; discounts to E&O loss-prevention programs; discounts to expert consultants through the Circle of Consultants program; and a variety of continuing-education opportunities. All of these may be accessed through the tool kit.
